Haulage Company, CPC Training Chesterfield, Transport and Storage Company

About Us

Richard Wilkes has lived in Chesterfield all his life, he first started out working as an order picker at Cadburys Trebor Basset at Holmewood Distribution centre for a number of years, as he was in this work he thought he could see an opportunity within the Chesterfield area  for general haulage and storage. In March 2005 at the age of 22 he and  close family members started a company called R.Wilkes Transport & Storage from a spare bedroom in a semi detached house with two Mercedes sprinter vans. From this the company expanded rapidly.  Within the first five months we had moved into a 3500 sq ft unit based in Clay Cross Chesterfield and increased our vehicle fleet to four Mercedes sprinter vans and one 7.5t lorry.

During the early year of 2006 a contract was secured for the distribution of fixture and fittings of all hospital, health centres and dental practice refurbishment equipment, expanding the company further in its fleet size. During the latter part of the year 2006 a second contract was secured for distribution to the building trade. In the summer of 2007 a major supplier of cardio-Vascular and cardio-pulmonary equipment was to come on board which increased our turnover by 60%.

R.Wilkes Transport & Storage today is still as it was back in March 2005 as a family run business. It strives to give the best service to its customers, offering a fleet of vehicles large enough to cope with most volumes, with a friendly run family management team small enough to care but big enough to handle anything put in front of them.
